Recommendations coming! - bit of a busy weekend, but know that I'll put out a whole post on this to make up for it.
It depends on your definition of "public life" but if that includes public life in the arts and literature then IMAGE is a must read, out of Seattle Pacific University, edited by Greg Wolfe. Fantastic stuff, especially Wolfe's editorials.
Think is doing a talk by Greg Wolfe on the "Wound of Beauty" this next go around. It's *great*, and will give you a good taste for IMAGE.
